Advancing LCA Methods

Emerging tech. Decision tools.

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a tool that systematically measures the environmental impacts of a product throughout its supply chain. Nevertheless, the methods have only been around for a few decades. My group works to increase the capabilities of LCA and shape how it is used to help guide decision making.  I am particularly interested in using LCA to anticipate potential impacts of new products and helping to ensure that LCA is used to ask the “right” questions.

Estimating Impacts of Emerging Products

Can we anticipate the environmental impacts of products before they occur and proactively design for sustainability?

Putting LCA Results in Context

If something is better, does it matter? How do we better contextualize and communicate LCA results?
