Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a tool that systematically measures the environmental impacts of a product throughout its supply chain. Nevertheless, the methods have only been around for a few decades. My group works to increase the capabilities of LCA and shape how it is used to help guide decision making. I am particularly interested in using LCA to anticipate potential impacts of new products and helping to ensure that LCA is used to ask the “right” questions.
